History of the Universal Measurement System

1978
The Universal Measurement System is created by Jeff Rand with some assistance from Doug Wilson.

December 1978
The first UMS compliant event is held as the system is used for time, distance and temperature during a camping trip.

1994
Further work is undertaken by Mark Bollman--> with the intent of defining absolute standards and base units for three additional quantities, thus developing a complete measurement system. While the system has not been used frequently, it remains a topic of conversation.
